Marvin makes it easy to complement any design with high-quality standard wood options, including Pine, Douglas Fir, White Oak, Cherry and more. And if your project requires the one-of-a-kind look of an unusual wood species, Marvin offers many beautiful and unique species including Maple, Black Walnut and Western Red Cedar.

Cherry, White Oak, Douglas Fir, and Cedro Macho are not available for exterior use. Vertical Grain Douglas Fir and Mahogany are not available on factory-applied prime units.

Marvin products are available with a chain of custody certification for either SFI® or FSC® certified wood.

All species are available FSC® certified. All specifies except tropical hardwoods are available SFI® certified.

Marvin Specialty Wood Species

Sometimes creating a one-of-a-kind look requires an out-of-the-ordinary wood. Marvin Signature offers specialty wood options that go far beyond the usual. Choose from a variety of distinctive wood species, each with its own unique color, character and grain — specially selected to have the high quality, beauty and durability characteristics you expect from Marvin.

Like standard wood, all specialty wood options are available FSC certified or SFI certified.

Hardwood

Black Walnut (Juglans nigra)

  • Creamy white sapwood with light brown to dark chocolate brown heartwood
  • Holds stain exceptionally well
  • Available on clad products only

Maple (Acer spp.)

  • Beautiful white sapwood with reddish-brown tinge
  • High resistance to abrasion and wear
  • Available on clad products only

Softwood

Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata)

  • Available for exterior casing and mull trim, sills and subsills on wood products
  • Straight grain, minimal shrinkage — excellent for coastal or high exposure areas
  • High resistance to decay, durability

Specialty woods, like standard wood options, are FSC certified or SFI certified.

Specialty Wood Sources

Properly managed forests supply a continual source of wood. Marvin is committed to sustainable forestry management both at home and abroad.

Some wood species are not suitable for exterior use and are only available on clad-wood products. Wood is a product of nature and will vary in color, texture and grain.
