311 Summer Street / Boston, MA
Since full frame replacement would have cut down on the amount of glazing and not met historic preservation requirements, Marvin invented a better solution. A two piece panning system was engineered to replicate the profile of the existing frame and was installed over it – avoiding tear-out and allowing for sash replacement using Marvin’s Tilt Pac.
Rapid prototyping ensured all details were precisely met.
A unique two-piece panning system for three-wide units had arched infill panels on the exterior, while retaining the original rectangular shape on the interior.
The flexible and responsive Marvin Signature team was able to adjust the delivery timing of the windows to best fit the rigid timeline of the project.
Restoration of 311 Summer Street earned LEED Gold Certification.
